JAMMU, Oct 6: N N Vohra, Governor, who is the Chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, inspected the pace of work on the construction of the Multi-purpose Sports Stadium at Katra yesterday.
This modern Stadium is being constructed by the Shrine Board at an estimated cost of nearly Rs. 11 crore.
The Governor, while stressing for its speedy completion, issued instructions for planting fast growing species of shady trees and shrubs along the entire boundary of the Stadium. He directed the Engineering Wing to urgently undertake the leveling of the Stadium ground and thereafter commence laying of turf on the ground, taking into consideration the species of grass best suited to the local climate and its laying season.
The Governor said that with the completion of this Stadium the local youth and that of all the adjoining districts will get the requisite facilities for participating in various sports activities. He added that this facility will also go a long way for organizing State and national level sports events at Katra.
HL Maini, Member and Technical Consultant of the Shrine Board; Navin K Choudhary, Principal Secretary to the Governor and CEO of the Shrine Board; Dr M K Bhandari, Additional CEO and concerned Board officers were present on this occasion.
