Govt Polytechnic Jammu organizes Fazil Abbas Rolling Trophy Volleyball tournament

JAMMU, May 16: Government Polytechnic Jammu organized Fazil Abbas Rolling trophy inter-department Volleyball tournament in the College in which eight teams of different departments are participating.
The tournament was started on the name of late Fazil Abbas, 4th semester student of Architecture branch who had passed away on May 4, 2015.
At the start a homage was paid to the departed soul by all the staff members and the students of the College.
The chief guest of the function was Principal of the College, Arun Bangotra who said that Late Fazil Abbas was a brilliant student of the College on whose name the tournament was started. He further laid stress on the importance of sports activities and encouraged the students to participate in sports activities, which develops the quality of leadership, sense of responsibility and create the feeling of oneness by working together to become the good citizens of the Country. Late Fazil Abbas’ brother and relatives were also present on the occasion.
The first match of the tournament was played between Instrumentation and Control Engineering Department and Mechanical Engineering Department, wherein latter defeated former by two straight sets (2-0).
In another match, Architecture branch defeated Civil Engineering by 2-1 sets.
The tournament was organized under the overall supervision of Er. Kuldeep Singh Bhatia, HoD Mechanical and I/C Sports Secretary and Joginder Kumar, Physical Education Master.
Others who were present on the occasion were Inderjeet Singh, Harinder Arora, Munish Kumar, Er. K S Manhas and Tariq Amin.
