JAMMU, Mar 7: President of Sainik Samaj Party (SSP), Col SS Pathania (Retd) expressed his anguish and pain over the pathetic condition of sports infrastructure across the Union Territory of J&K and alleged that no Shooting range has been developed so far by the Government for the last 73 years.
“This is unimaginable that how the successive Governments have ignored such important sports. It shows the total apathy, indifference and a lacklustre approach towards the promotion of sports and empowerment of the J&K youth,” he said.
However, Pathania complimented Kuldip Jamwal, president Shooting Federation JKUT and his team for organizing a Shooting championship at Zorawar Singh Shooting Club where young shooters gave a wonderful performance.
He also complimented Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak and his son for setting up a Shooting Range at Bari Brahamna area. “Despite having no Shooting Range set up by the Govt, lack of infrastructure and inadequate coaching facilities across the UT but the young and talented shooters succeeded to win 50 medals in the National Championship which was organised recently,” he asserted.
He urged the Lieutenant Governor to support Shooting Federation of J&K in organizing talent hunt and set up an International level Shooting Range with appropriate infrastructure and coaching facilities, so that the young budding shooters get the benefit of it.
