SRINAGAR, Oct 10: The NSG team lifted the 17th All India Police Golf Tournament-2013 organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Police at the Royal Springs Golf Course at Srinagar. The Punjab team was declared the runner-up.
N N Vohra, Governor, who was the chief guest at the Prize Distribution function, who while speaking on the occasion congratulated the winner and runner-up teams and the other players who won prizes in various categories for participating in the Tournament and playing at one of the best golf courses in the country. He complimented Ashok Prasad, Director General, J&K Police and the organizing committee for having taken the initiative of hosting this Tournament.
The Governor observed that all the three Defence Services of the country have a healthy tradition of promoting sports, besides, focusing on the welfare of their officers and men and their families. “There is need for also focusing adequately on the welfare of Police personnel and their families”, Governor added.
The Governor released a Souvenir brought out on this occasion.
Ashok Prasad, Director General of Police, presented a memento to the Governor as a memorabilia of the Tournament.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the DGP said that over 100 golfers from 31 States and Central Police Organizations had participated in the 17th All India Police Golf Tournament-2013. He said that such sports events provide a valuable opportunity to interact and develop camaraderie with other Police organizations in the country.
S M Sahai, Additional Director General of Police (Armed), who was Organizing Secretary of the Tournament, presented a vote of thanks and congratulate the winners.
K Rajendra Kumar, Director General Prisons; P L Gupta, ADG Coordination; S P Vaid, ADG Headquarters; D R Doley, ADG Home Guards; Navin K Choudhary, Principal Secretary to the Governor; Farooq Ahmad Shah, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar; senior Civil and Police officers, participating players and golf lovers were among those present on this occasion.
