JAMMU, Nov 12: Governor NN Vohra participated in the prize distribution ceremony of the 1st Edition of the Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) Annual Golf Tournament which was held at the Jammu Tawi Golf Course in Sidhra, here.
Earlier, this morning the Governor had inaugurated this Tournament and also played 9 holes.
The CII has organized this Tournament in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Golf Association in which 80 golfers from the civil society, Army and the industrial sector participated.
Complimenting the winners of the Tournament, Governor stressed on the importance of sports and games and observed that these should be an integral part of our lives as they promote health and a positive orientation of the people at large.
Appreciating the efforts of Rahul Sahai, Chairman, CII J&K State Council and the J&K Golf Association in organizing this Tournament, Governor suggested that such competitions should be held regularly and in future, also involve school and college students.
Chander Prakash Ganga, Minister for Industries and Commerce, while lauding the CII and J&K Golf Association for organizing this Tournament, said that he would provide encouragement to golf by funding through Corporate Social Responsibility initiative of Industry.
Priya Sethi, MoS Tourism, Culture and Education, urged enhancing larger participation of women and school children in golf and other games.
Shailendra Kumar, Commissioner Secretary Industries and Commerce was also present on the occasion.
