JAMMU, Oct 22: The shuttlers, young and old, showed composure and promise in Badminton Championship, under ‘Khelo India’ initiative, being organised by the
District Administration, Jammu in collaboration with the Department of Youth Services and Sports and District Police Administration, Jammu under the chairmanship of Sushma Chauhan, District Development Commissioner Jammu, here.
The event is being organised for Peace and Development under “Khelo India” Phase-III, centrally sponsored scheme, Govt. of India for students/non-students under different age groups for Boys, Girls, Men, Women and Veterans.
The competitions are being organized under the patronage of Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman, Director General, Youth Services & Sports.
Results: Badminton Veterans Under 75 Double; Tejinder Singh and Mukesh Singh beat Prem Chand and Rakesh by 2-0 sets; RS Sambyal & Raj Kumar trounced Rakesh and Eresh by 2-0 sets; Vikram and Vikram Jamwal drubbed Saleem and Nitin by 2-0 sets;
Badminton Veterans Under 95 Double; Vivek Singh and Vikas beat Tarseem Singh and Narinder by 2-0 sets;
Badminton Veterans Under 115 Double; KDS jamwal and Harjeet Sethi beat Dalbir Singh and Omkar by 2-0 sets; Vijay Verma and Rohit beat Ravinder and Inder Bushan by 2-0 sets.
Badminton Under-14 Girls Singles; Krishika beat Khawaish by 21-2 points; Shriya Gupta outplayed Ashima by 21-08 points; Unnati outclassed Suhani by 21-0 points.
Badminton Under-14 Girls Doubles; Ridhima and Angel defeated Anjali and Avni by 24-22 points; Khawaish and Suhani beat Arushi and Ifra by 21-07 points; Unnati and Shriya beat Amulya and Kajol by 21-07 points; Kanishika and Shambhavi beat Sonali and Avantika by 21-03 points; Agruia and Arya thrashed Rishika and Divya by 21-12 points.
Badminton Under-17 Girls Singles; Kashi beat Ojaswani by 21-09 points; Ruksana Jahan trounced Sneha Kumara by 21-13 points; Vinasa drubbed Tulka by 21-10 points; Khushi defeated Shivani Sharma by 21-10 points and Preeti Devi got walkover.
Badminton Under-17 Boys Singles; Sanjay Kumar prevailed over Mohd Qasid by 21-14 points and Raghav Singh beat Ansh Joshi by 21-19 points.
The matches were officiated by a panel of experts from the Department of Youth Services and Sports, District Jammu.
