JAMMU, Jan 29: Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu and Government Degree College (GDC) Bhaderwah registered narrow wins over their rivals to move into the next round of the ongoing Inter-College Cricket Tournament, being organised by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at varsity ground, here.
In the first match, GMC defeated MAM College in a thrilling contest by 2 runs. Batting first, GMC scored a modest total of 114 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Shaurya top scored with 52 runs, while Ghulam and Danish contributed with 21 and 15 runs respectively. For MAM College, Rohit and Sidhant bagged 2 wickets each, while Sukhbir and Amandeep claimed one wicket each.
MAM College, in reply, fell short of just 2 runs, scoring 112 runs, thus lost the match by 2 runs. Amandeep was the top scorer with 25 runs, while Muzamil and Sidhant chipped in with 10 and 9 runs respectively. For GMC Jammu, Sawan and Nasir captured 3 wickets each, while Rahul took 2 wickets.
In another match, GDC Bhaderwah drubbed GGM Science College by a narrow margin of 11 runs. Batting first, GDC Bhaderwah scored 122 runs, with Usman and Deepak scoring 29 and 20 runs respectively. Suhail took 2 wickets for GGM Science College.
GGM Science College, in reply managed to score 111 runs, thus lost the match by 11 runs. Mohit was the top scorer with 40 runs, while Rajat contributed 15 runs to the total. For GDC Bhaderwah, Burhan and Baber claimed 2 wickets each.
