BHADERWAH, Mar 30: To promote sports among rural youth, especially girls, Rashtriya Rifles (RR) based at Bhaderwah organised 4-days Girls Kho-Kho Tournament, the final of which was played at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Bhaderwah on Thursday.
12 teams under two categories viz Under-17 and Under-14 from different schools of Bhadarwah zone participated in the 4-day tournament.
In U-14 category, Middle School(MS) Mathola defeated Government High School (GHS) Nichlathara by 12-4 and 9-3 points while in U-17 category, Government Girls Higher Secondary Government (GGHSS) Bhaderwah defeated Government High School (GHS) Nichlathara by 18:4 and 15:5 points.
Both the teams were felicitated with trophies and medals by the Commander 4 Sector RR, who was chief guest on the closing ceremony.
Chief Guest was all praise for the young players who played with enthusiasm and assured them that Army will try its best to provide them a bigger and better platform which will not only help them to groom their talent but also pave a way for them to become professional players.
Besides, CO, RR based at Bhaderwah, other Army Officers and School Administration who were present during the match and award ceremony included Principal GGHSS Shabnum Nigar, ZEPO Pritam Singh, PET Murtaza Qadir, PEM Abdul Haq, Aftab Alam and Majid Aslam.
