GHMHS Simbal bags twin titles in hockey

JAMMU, May 7: Guru Harkrishan Memorial High School, Simbal lifted twin titles in hockey as it won both Under-14 and Under-17 finals in the District Level Inter-School Tournament at KK Hakhu Astroturf Stadium, here today.
Earlier, in the Under-14 hockey summit clash, GHMHS Simbal defeated Army Public School Miran Sahib by a solitary goal and the goal scorer was Mandeep Singh, while in the Under-17 finals, GHMHS thrashed HSS Gole Gujral by five goals to nil (5-0), wherein Sarabjeet Singh and Ramandeep Singh scored 2 goals each, while Randeep Singh scored one goal.
Earlier, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports, Jammu Ved Prakash visited the venues to assess the arrangements made by the department.
Meanwhile, in badminton Under-14 girls final, MIER defeated DPS by (2-0) sets. Sezal Verma and Sukhleen Kour displayed a fabulous performance for the winners, while in badminton Under-17 girls final, KC Public School got better of MHAC Nagbani by (2-0) sets. Mitakshara and Subhagini played well for KC Public.
Meanwhile, at Jammu zone, MS Sarwal defeated HS Toph Sherkhanian by 11 points (15-4) in the final to win the kabaddi Under-14 boys title, while in kabaddi Under-17 boys final, Hari Singh Higher School School trounced HSS Muthi by 14 points (21-7).
The matches were held under the overall supervision of Kiran Jyoti, zonal physical education officer, Jammu.
In kho-kho Under-14 boys finals, MS Rehari beat HS Rajpura, while in kho-kho Under-17 boys, SOS drubbed HS Janipur.
Model Academy beat HSS Muthi in volleyball Under-17 finals, while in Under-14 finals, KC Public defeated Model Academy to bag the title.
In wrestling, Shabaz Ahmed Shah HSS Jullaka Mohalla won gold in 80 kg, Daler Khan of Hari Singh HSS clinched gold in 76 kg, while Mohd Arif of Hari Singh HSS got gold in 63 kg, Wahab Singh, Hari Singh HSS bagged gold in 54 kg, Krishan Lal HSS Jullaka Mohalla won gold in 50 kg and Pradeep Singh of SOS Jammu clinched gold in 46 kg.
442 boys participated in the tournament.
At Miran Sahib zone, the tournament was held under the overall supervision of Sarita Pandha, zonal physical education, Miran Sahib.
In kabaddi Under-14 boys final, BHS Badyal Brahamana beat MS Kirpind by (30-19), while in kabaddi Under-17 boys, BHS Simbal Camp defeated GHSS Miran Sahib.
In kho-kho Under-17 boys final, BHS Simbal Camp trounced JK Police Public School Miran Sahib (5-2) points, while in kho-kho Under-14 boys final JK Police Public School Miran Sahib outplayed MS Chohala b (3-2).
The matches were officiated by Kulbir Singh, Hardeep Kour, Kuldeep Kour, Harcharan Singh, Harmeek Singh, Gourav, Anit Kour, Nisha Sharma, Narinder Kour, Mulkh Raj, Surinder Kour, Paramjeet Singh, Gurmeet Singh and Ravinder.
At Gandhi Nagar zone, the tournament was held under the overall supervision of Jeet Singh, zonal physical education officer.
Ved Prakash, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports, Jammu was the chief guest, while Tirath Ram, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu was the guest of honour.
In kabaddi Under-14 boys, HS Digiana beat MS Railway by (31-29) points, while in kabaddi Under-17 boys, HSS Channi Himmat thrashed HS Digiana by 32 points (40-60).
Meanwhile, in kho-kho Under-14 boys, HS Kaluchak got better of MS Balmiki Basti by 6 points (12-6), while in kho-kho Under-17 boys, HSS Gandhi Nagar prevailed over HS Khanna Chargal by 6 points (18-12).
At Marh zone, the competitions were held under the supervision of Chanchal Kour, zonal physical education officer.
In kabaddi, Under-14 boys, HSS Gole Gujral beat MS Karloop, while in kabaddi Under-17 final, HSS Gou Manasan beat MRLD Burj Sui.
HSS Domana defeated HSS Gou Manasan and in kho-kho Under-14 boys, HSS Gole Gural beat MRLD Burj Sui.
The events were also held in Dansal, Satwari and RS Pura zones under the overall supervision of zonal physical education officers, Ram Kumar Sharma, Sroman Dogra and Hira Lal Bhat respectively.
