JAMMU, Jan 22: An Inter-Collegiate Mathematical Quiz Competition was organized by the Department of Mathematics of GGM Science College, here today.
College Principal, Dr NK Resutra was the chief guest and Dr Ashok Bhagat was the guest of honour of the function.
Earlier, Prof NK Dhar presented welcome address.
In the inaugural address, Dr Ashok Bhagat impressed upon the students to do mathematics for the sake of mathematics and choose it as a career. The proceedings of the Competition were conducted by Dr Sunil Gupta.
In his address he stressed upon the students about the applications of Mathematics in daily life.
In this competition a total of nine teams participated from different Colleges of the Jammu region with two students in each team.
Later on, Principal, Dr NK Resutra threw light on the importance of Mathematics in every branch of Science and asked the students to involve in mathematical activities.
The result was declared by Prof DK Raina, Head of the Department of Mathematics.
In the competition, GCW Parade got first position, while GDC RS Pura and GCW Gandhi Nagar got second and third position respectively.
Dr JL Sharma and Dr Narinder Sharma of Department of Mathematics were the jury members for this programme.
In the end prizes and certificates were distributed among the winners by the chief guest of the function.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Shally Gupta.
The other faculty members present in the programme were Dr RS Pathania, Prof Kanchan Kohli, Prof NK Dhar and Prof Ankit Sharma
