JAMMU, Aug 13: Government Girls Higher Secondary School Mubarak Mandi and Government SRML Higher Secondary School won the Under-19 girls and boys Handball titles respectively in the District Level Inter-School competitions in the discipline of Badminton, Handball, Taekwondo and Handball, which concluded at Dogra Ground Jammu and Indoor Complex M.A Stadium, here today.
The Tournament was organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports as part of Annual Calendar of Sports activities under the supervision of Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services and Sports and Sukhdev Raj Sharma, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu.
Earlier, in Handball Under-19 girls final, Govt HSS Mubarak Mandi defeated Presentation Convent by (11-3) goals. Karuna scored 4 goals and Reshika score 5 goals from GHSS Mubarak Mandi, while Ashima scored 2 goals from Presentation Convent.
In Handball Under-19 boys final, SRML beat BSF Paloura in a close contest by (10-8) goals.
Abhay Khajuria and Kuldeep Singh scored 3 goals each and Jasbir Singh and Nikhil scored 2 goals each for SRML HSS Jammu, while Ruhisar Tickoo and Rahul Jasrotia scored 3 goals each and Sukhdev Singh scored 2 goals for BSF Paloura.
The matches were officiated by Om Parkash, Ajay Kumar, Chander Shekhar, Sanjay Jamwal, Gourav Sharma, Mokshi Bali and Ravinder.
In Badminton Under-19 girls final, Presentation Convent defeated MHAC Nagbani by (2-1) sets. In single, Shivali Pandita of Nagbani defeated Amiesheeka of Presentation Convent by 2-1 sets, while in doubles, Jasleen and Amiesheeka of Presentation Convent defeated Shivali and Sunali of MHAC Nagbani by 2-1 sets and in another singles event, Nabhia Kohli of Presentation Convent beat Sakshi of MHAC Nagbani by 2-0 sets.
The match were officiated by Kiran Jyoti, Sanjay Khajuria and Vikram Jamwal.
In Taekwondo Under-19 girls, Narmita Katoch of Govt GHSS Mubark Mandi, Sidika Charak of S M Jain HSS, Syeeda Bano of Model Academy and Heena Bali of Govt GHSS Mubarak Mandi claimed gold in below 48, 50, 54 and 62 kg weight categories respectively.
The fights were officiated by Atul Pangotra, Varinder Sharma and Taruna Khajuria.
