JAMMU, Oct 27: GDC Udhampur clinched Volleyball title by defeating GDC Hiranagar in the ongoing Inter-Collegiate Volleyball (Men) Tournament 2017-18, organized by the Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu at University Sports Stadium, here.
In the final match, GDC Udhampur outplayed GDC Hiranagar by (3-2) sets (26-24, 25-21, 22-25, 20-25, 16-14).
Ruben Teji, Joy Pawar and Daleep Singh were the star performers of the match, while Sourav Sharma, Rishav Jasrotia and Harith Sharma also played well for the GDC Hiranagar.
Prof Avtar Singh Jasrotia, Director, Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu was the chief guest, who awarded winning trophy to the GDC Udhampur team.
Earlier, in the first semifinal played in the morning session, GDC Hiranagar outplayed GDC Samba by 3-0 sets (25-19, 25-11, 26-24).
In the second semi-final, GDC Udhampur drubbed PG Department Jammu University team by (3-1) sets with the set score of (26-24), (28-26),(18-25) and (25-20).
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Anil Kumar, Balbir Singh Chib, Vijay Kumari, Gagan Kumar, Ravish Vaid, Jai Bharat, Vikas Karlopia, Amit Jamwal, Ramesh Magotra, Dr. Brij Baloria, Vinay Manhas, Pardeep Sharma and S. Harinderpal Sngh.
The final as well as the semifinal matches were officiated by the technical panel of officials including Amit Sharma, Mulkh Raj Sharma, Amarjeet Singh, Naresh Kumar and Manik Nargotra.
