JAMMU, Oct 5: GDC Samba outplayed GDC Hiranagar in the inaugural match of the Inter-Collegiate Volleyball (W) Tournament 2015-16, being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, at its Sports Stadium, here.
GDC Samba got better of GDC Hiranagar by (2-1) sets by (17-25, 25-23,15-03), while GCW Udhampur got walkover against GCW Kathua. The next round matches will be played tomorrow from 9.30 am.
The tournament was organized under the supervision of Prof Dhian S Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu.
The matches were officiated by Mulkh Raj, Manmohan Sharma, Manu Singh, and Pushap Thakur under the supervision of event Incharge, Vikas Karlopia, Volleyball coach, University of Jammu.
Meanwhile, in the Opening of the Inter College Football (Men) Tournament 2015-16, Degree College Bhargava, Samba beat the GDC Billawar. In other matches, GDC Kathua trounced GDC Paloura by (3-1) goals and MAM College blanked PG Law Science by (7-0) goals.
The matches were officiated by Suresh Gupta, Gagan Kumar and Taranpal Singh.
The Tournament is being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, Jammu at University Football ground, near main gate of the University Campus.
Prof Dhian S Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu was the chief guest, while Dr. Brij Baloria, Narayani Jamwal, Suman Lata, Balbir Singh Chib, Sonu Mehra, Ravish Vaid, Raj Kumar Bakshi were also present on the occasion.
