JAMMU, Oct 14: Government Degree College (GDC) Samba and GGM Science College notched wins over rivals in their respective matches and entered into the next stage of the ongoing Inter-College Cricket Tournament for men, being organized by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, here today.
In the first match, GDC Samba registered 7 wickets win over GDC Doda. Batting first, GDC Doda scored paltry 68 runs by losing all wickets in 13.1 overs. Babar made 12 runs, while Kuljinder and Shadab scored 7 runs each.
For GDC Samba side, Vinod was the pick of the bowler, who scalped 4 wickets by giving 18 runs in 3 overs, while Anup also displayed good bowling skills and took 3 wickets by conceding 11 runs in 4 overs. Sachin also clinched 2 wickets.
In reply, GDC Samba chased the target in 12.1 overs by losing 3 wickets. Vishal was the highest scorer with 30 runs, while Shubham scored 11 runs.
For GDC Doda side, Zahid, Suhail and Babar took one wicket each.
In the second match, GGM Science College thrashed GDC Reasi by a huge margin of 90 runs. Electing to bat first after winning the toss, GGM Science College set a target of 151 runs by losing 9 wickets in 20 overs. Manik was the top scorer with 30 runs, while Abhishek and Ankush made 24 and 22 runs respectively. Mukul and Vikram also added 18 and 15 runs to the total respectively.
For GDC Reasi side, Suneet and Varun scalped 2 wickets each by giving 26 and 25 runs respectively in their 4 overs spell, while Amit took one wicket by giving 40 runs in 4 overs.
In the second inning, GDC Reasi failed to chase the target and bundled out at 61 runs by losing all the wickets in 13.1 overs. Bhanu and Muddasir scored 11 runs each.
From GGM Science College side, Sant was wrecker-in-chief, who scalped 3 wickets by giving 11 runs in 3.1 overs, while Hitesh and Vikram took 2 wickets each and Shubham clinched one wicket.
The matches were officiated by Sadiq Hussain, Mohan Lal Dub, Saleem-ur-Rehman, Opinder Singh and Raj Kumar Bakshi as umpires, while Vinod maintained the scorecard.
