JAMMU, Oct 14: Government Degree College (GDC), Samba bagged first prize, while, Government Women College, Parade and Department of Mathematics, University of Jammu, claimed second and third positions respectively in the Folk Dance event organised during ongoing Display Your Talent by Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu, at Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium.
The lone certificate of the event was awarded to Government Gandhi Memorial (GGM) Science College.
Attired traditionally and bejeweled beautifully, the participating teams presented Dogri Folk dance Jagarna and Kud, Gujrati Garba, Rajasthani dance Kaalbeliya, Punjabi folk Bhangra and Gidda.
Dr Inderjeet Singh, Advocate Anuradha Seth Kohli and Arti Mehta Mahajan, were the jury members, who evaluated the performance of the participants.
Dr Ritu Mahajan, Teacher incharge, of the event made the participants well versed with the rules and regulations.
Prof Jasbir Singh, Chairman, Campus Cultural Committee, was the chief guest, while, Prof NK Tripathi, Dean Students Welfare, University of Jammu, presided over the function.
