JAMMU, Nov 28: Maintaining the rich tradition of educational institutions Govt Post Graduate College Rajouri today celebrated its 32nd Annual Day with great fervor and gaiety.
The programme was chaired by Mohd Akbar Lone, Minister for Higher Education and presided over by Shabir Ahmed Khan, Minister for Health. Prior to the celebrations of Annual Day, the two Ministers alongwith Director Colleges, Dr Tariq Ahmed Kawoosa, Principal GDC Rajouri Dr J A Qazi were accorded guard of honour by the NCC Cadets under the command of Lt Tanwir Ahmed, where from he proceeded to inaugurate the UGC Network Resource Centre and Automation of Central Library and threw them open for the benefit of students and teachers.
Thousands of students, members of Civil Society, faculty members, media persons thronged the Multipurpose Hall to witness this mega event which was jointly coordinated by Prof Mohd Iqbal Raina and Prof Asif Ajaz Lone Staff Secretary of the College.
The programme commenced with the welcome address and Annual report presented by the Principal Dr J A Qazi who highlighted the glinting achievements of the students, teachers and institution as a whole in academic and co-academic areas besides putting forth several demands for infrastructural and academic development of the College.
A colourful multilingual musical programme by students enthralled the audience and stole the show which was lauded by all and sundry.
The chief guest, Mohd Akbar Lone Minister for Higher Education congratulated the students teachers and especially Principal for organizing such a wonderful programme and also announced the grantfor Girls Hostel, Rs 20 lakh for Development of Botanical Garden, PG Dept of Arabic, Construction of Internal roads, BBA Dept. besides promising to undertake the project of Women College with the Chief Minister.
In his presidential address Shabir Ahmed Khan Minister for Health also promised to extend all possible help for the development of this remote College of Peer Panchal. Others who spoke and graced this occasion included Muzaffar Khan Judicial Magistrate, Prof Mushtaq Lone Principal GDC Thanamandi, Prof Haqeeqat Singh & Kuldeep Raj Gupta.
Many illustrious students of the College were also awarded mementoes and certificates for exhibiting spectacular performances in scholastic and extra-scholastic areas. A book authored by Dr Abdul Raouf HoD Maths was also released by the Ministers.
The Programme ended with the vote of thanks by Prof M K Waqar, Vice Principal of the College.
