GDC observes ‘World Biodiversity Day & Endangered Species Day’

JAMMU, May 23: Department of Environmental Sciences, Government Degree College (GDC) Nowshera organized National Level Quiz Competition on “World Biodiversity Day and Endangered Species Day” on the topic “Wildlife Biodiversity of India”.
The event was organized under the aegis of “Ek Bharat Shrestha & Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav”.
A large number of students participated in the event through online mode.
The competition focused on importance and value of biodiversity at national level.
The quiz was organized by Dr Saleem Ahmad of Department of Environmental Sciences under the supervision of Principal of the College Dr Surinder Kumar while Manisha of the Department of Environmental Sciences was the coordinator of the event.
Top 3 positions were awarded Certificate of Excellence while others are given participation certificates.
The first prize was bagged by 21 students from GDC Nowshera viz Neharika Gupta, Sanjana Sharma, Nazima Iqbal, Riya Bhardawaj, Shazia Kouser, Danish Gupta, Amritpal Singh, Shekhar Bhardawaj, Ankush Bhardawaj, Yasir Iqbal, Tiya Suri, Reetika Sharma, Priya Kapoor, etc. First prize was also shared from other colleges and university like Ajay Neeraj from Central University of Gujarat, Maryam Jabeen Choudhary from GDC Mendhar and Nandani Thakur from SVS Degree College for Women Rajouri. The second position was awarded to 11 students Diya Bhardawaj, Shriya Gupta, Bhawana Ghai, Gagandeep Choudhary, Sanjeev Choudhary, Rishav Kapoor, Komal Sharma, etc of GDC Nowshera and Safia Jabeen Choudhary from BGSBU, Rajouri. Ten other students of GDC Nowshera Palak Dutta, Esha Sharma, Vishal Choudhary, Akash Sharma, Rajni Sharma, Priya Rajput, Baljinder Kour, etc secured third position in the competition.
