JAMMU, Sept 13: Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua will lock horns with Combine Post Graduate (PG) Department, University of Jammu in the men’s title clash, while Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) will meet Government College for Women, Parade in the women’s summit clash of the ongoing Inter-Collegiate Badminton Championship, being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education at Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu, here.
Earlier, in the men’s first semifinal, GDC Kathua drubbed MIET by (3-0) in an easy contest. Navdeep trounced Kunal by (21-8,21-6) and Shubam defeated Sutiqshen by (21-11, 21-16), while the pair of Shubam and Abhishek got better of the duo of Sutiqshen and Ayush by (21-10, 21-10) in straight two sets.
In the second semifinal of the men’s section, PG Department blanked GDC Ramnagar by (3-0) in a one-sided contest. Chander Dev outplayed Nitish by (21-17, 21-9) and Taran Pal Singh outclassed Vinod by (21-10, 21-12), while Chander Dev and Amit Singh Jasrotia prevailed upon Nitish and Vinod by (21-11, 21-17) in straight sets.
Meanwhile, in the women’s section, MIET defeated PG Department by (2-0) in the first semifinal. Diksha got better of Sangheeta by (21-6, 21-6), while the duo of Diksha and Sanchi overpowered Razia and Jagriti by (21-11, 21-7).
In another semifinal match, GCW Parade trounced SRML Commerce College by (2-0). Akanksha beat Prabhjot by (21-15, 21-19), while Akanksha and Divya outwitted Prabhjot and Sanjana by (21-15, 21-17) in a hard fought contest.
The matches were officiated by a panel of experts including Raju Sharma, Amit Sharma, Kulwinder Singh, Vikram Jamwal, Nisha Sharma and Sanjeev Jamwal.
The final matches of both the sections will be held in the morning session at the same venue tomorrow.
