JAMMU, Sept 13: Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua and GCW Gandhi Nagar lifted men and women titles respectively in the Inter- Collegiate Badminton Tournament (M&W), which concluded at Badminton Hall, Police Lines, here today.
Earlier, in the women’s title clash, GCW Gandhi Nagar defeated GGM Science College by (2-1) sets. In singles, Suvidha Khajuria drubbed Diksha by (21-19, 21-12) and Pratibha got better of Saveeta by (21-6, 21-8), while in doubles, Suvidha and Ishaan trounced Diksha and Ankush by (21-9, 23-21).
Meanwhile, in men’s section, GDC Kathua thrashed GCET by ( 3-0). In singles, Ankit Mahajan toppled Kanav by (21-8, 21-6) and Avishek defeated Rohit Pandita by (18 -21,21-17, 25-23), while in doubles, Ankit and Dinesh prevailed over Anit Singh and Rohit by (21-12, 21-18).
In the prize distribution ceremony, Rajesh Kumar, IGP Jammu Zone was the chief guest, while Prof Dhian Singh Bhau Director, Directorate of Physical Education , University of Jammu presided over the function.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Yogesh Sharma, Kuldip Magotra, Romesh Sharma, Sumnesh Sharma, Vinodh Bakshi, Balvinder Singh, Jai Baharat, Raj Kumar Bakshi , PD Singh, Sanjeev Jamwal and Vikas Karlopia.
The matches were officiated by Vikaram Jamwal, Ravish Vaid, Amit Sharma, Ajay Sharma, Kulvinder, Anil Sharma, Pankaj and Suresh Kumar.
