JAMMU, Dec 19: GD Goenka Public School, Jammu governed by Om Prakash Bansal Charitable Trust celebrated its Annual Function, Aahvaan-2015, with immense grandeur, pomp and show, at Goenkan acrehere today.
The inaugural lighting of the lamp was done by the chief guest, Sukhnandan Kumar, Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, in presence of Dewan Chand Bansal, Chairman of the School Managing Committee, Mr. Rahul Bansal, President of Om Prakash Bansal Charitable Trust and School Management Committee, Sanya Bansal, Director and Principal, Dr RP Singh.
The Principal of the school, Dr. R.P Singh presented welcome address.
The theme of the Annual Day was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory taken from the Children’s classic of the same name by Roald Dalh, the celebrated and one of the most loved children’s authors.
A galaxy of energized tiny tots performed various scenes from the Novel. Charlie Bucket, the protagonist of the novel and four other children receive a once in a life time golden opportunity to visit a Chocolate Factory owned by the eccentric , magical genius, Willy Wonka, the owner of the Wonka Chocolate Factory. In order to choose who will enter the factory, Wonka conceals five golden tickets in the wrappers of the Wonka Chocolates.
The story then revolves around the poverty stricken boy, Charlie who is devoid of all negativity- greed, avarice obsession, gluttony etc and how he wins over the heart and mind of all with his pure innocence and strong moral code of conduct .It was quiet breathtaking to witness the reel fictitious Characters come to life with the little Goenkans exhibiting a stella performance on stage. The magical world of fairy tales made one walk down memory lane and reminisces about childhood and the many mischievous pranks associated with it.
The Grand finale brought a beautiful smile on the faces of the audience when amidst all the fun and frolic, the school choir sang melodious, ‘We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year’.
The chief guest, Sukhnandan Choudhary greeted and conveyed his good wishes to all specially the three International awardees, Amrita Roshan and Vanshika Manhas (Bronze Medal in Kurash at China) & Amandeep (Bronze Medal in Speedball at Poland).
The programme culminated with the presentation of the National Anthem.
