GD Goenka celebrates Annual Day of its Primary wing with zeal, zest

JAMMU, Dec 29: G D Goenka Public School, Jammu governed by Om Prakash Bansal Charitable Trust celebrated Annual Day of its Primary wing with zest and zeal at Gen Zorawar Auditorium, University of Jammu, here today.
The programme was an appropriate occasion for the upsurge of extraordinary pleasure and presentation of wide range of talent and creativity.
Dr Shesh Paul Vaid, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) was the chief guest on the occasion, while Er Kiran Wattal, Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation was the guest of honour.
The event started with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by Ganesh Vandana, creating a spiritual environment.
The Principal of the School, Dr R P Singh presented the Annual Report and highlighted the major achievements and performance in academics, co-curricular activities and other class activities performed in the school in the academic year 2014-15.
The theme of the Annual Day was ‘Joie de Vivre’, exuberant joy of life clubbed with Navras-the enchanting colours of life.
The cultural event started with Adbut Ras, where the children of class III performed a dance to show their wonder, excitement, amazement to see the vibrant nature. All the dances were based on different Ras–Bhaybeet, Vatsalya, Shingar and so on.
The audience were spell bound by Roudra ras followed by Shant Ras which is very much associated with our day-to-day life. Navras of life were depicted in a colourful extravaganza by more than 500 students
Academics, Sports, Art and Music awards were given to the various achievers of the respective fields by the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Vaid said that Annual Day or any other celebrations at School, helps to improve extra curricular activities in children and boosts their confidence level, adding that every school must arrange these types of celebrations in order to inculcate the interest of the children towards cultural activities.
