KARGIL, June 15: Scripting a narrow win over Jafaria Academy of Modern Education in the summit show down by 2 points (baskets), Government Boys Higher Secondary School Kargil lifted the Under-17 boys basketball title in the Inter-zonal tournaments in the disciplines of volleyball, handball and basketball at Indoor Stadium, here today.
The tournament, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports concluded with a colourful valedictory function today.
Earlier, riding on a superb display of caging skills by skipper Abass Ali, GBHHS Kargil outclassed Jafaria Academy in a close contest in hard fought title clash.
Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed prizes among the winners and runners up teams.
Meanwhile, in Under-19 volleyball tournament, in which 14 teams participated, GBHSS Kargil drubbed Jafaria Academy in the final to win the title, while in Under-17 boys volleyball, Shargole zone trounced Kargil zone and lifted the title. However, Kargil zone got better off Shargole zone in Under-17 handball final.
Among others present on the occasion were Councilor Tai Suru Syed Abass Razvi, Zonal Physical Education Officers, Mohd Hussain Rehnuma and Mohd Jaffar and organizers Mohammad Yousuf and Hamid Khan.
