JAMMU, Sept 24: Defeating their respective rivals by convincing margins in the quarterfinal clashes, Gautam Jamwal, Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Sharma and Abhi Gupta have made it to the semifinals in junior snooker event of the ongoing Jammu District Open Junior and Senior Billiards and Snooker Championship, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Billiards and Snooker Association (JKBSA)at Billiards Hall in MA Stadium, here.
In the first quarterfinal match played today, Gautam Jamwal got better of Nikhil Verma (2-1)frames by (50-39, 43-53, 52-20) After winning the first frame, Gautam lost the second one with a narrow margin and won the third convincingly.
In the second quarterfinals, Akshay Kumar outplayed Aditya Sharma in straight frames (2-0)by (69-26, 57-34), while in another quarterfinal match, Sanjay Sharma drubbed Aditya Sharma 2-0 by(74-10, 56-24)and in the last quarterfinal match, Abhi Gupta prevailed upon Rohit Sodhi 2-0 with a big margin of(85-54, 71-15).
According to the organizers, the semifinal matches would be played on best of five format from 1 pm tomorrow and the senior snooker matches would begin from September 25 at the same venue.
Meanwhile, in the remaining two pre-quarterfinal matches played yesterday evening, Nikhil Verma defeated Nikhil Magotra 2-0 by (70-47, 49-47), while Gautam Jamwal outclassed Ankush Verma 2-0 by (65-26, 65-34).
