JAMMU, Dec 21: Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Parkash Ganga has stressed the need for promoting Scouts and Guides movement in educational institutions to cultivate values like commitment, conviction, character, courtesy and cheerfulness among the youth.
The Minister was speaking at a function organized by Bharat Scouts and Guides here today in which about 200 Scouts/Guides, Scouters/Guiders and heads of various institutions participated.
On the occasion, the Minister wished the young boys and girls going to represent J&K in National Jamboree being held at Karnataka this month. Over 30,000 students from across the country and about 2,000 from neighboring countries are expected to take part in the national event.
“Activities of Scouts and Guide need encouragement as they promote character building, spirit of camaraderie and brotherhood, which is vital is overall character building of an individual,” the Minister emphasized.
The Minister called upon the youth to channelize their energies towards right perspective and make the state proud of their contribution in strengthening the bonds of communal harmony and brotherhood among various sections of the society.
Ganga said the State of Jammu and Kashmir is proud of the services being rendered by Bharat Scouts & Guides in promoting communal harmony among the people from various walks of life.
Later, the Minister attended a seminar on the topic “Demonetization, a Mile Stone Towards Good Governance” at Shikha Niketan Senior Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar.
MLA Jammu West Sat Sharma and other dignitaries also present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that the decision of the Government of India on demonetization has received overwhelming response from the people as they are convinced about the objective behind this initiative. He further said that it will ensure in eliminating corruption, black-money and fake currency from the country.
