*GHSS Salal to take on TSN in Tennis Ball Cricket Tourney final

JAMMU, May 23: District Level Inter Zonal Competitions, being organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports in various disciplines were played at different venues.
JAMMU: Inter Zonal Level Cricket Competition for under-14 boys was held at GHS Satwari, in which Gandhi Nagar Zone beat Miran Sahib Zone by 24 runs and registered berth in the semifinal.
Batting first, Gandhi Nagar Zone made 69 runs by losing 5 wickets. Abhidhwar was top scorer with 21 runs, while Shavak and Aditya Abrol chipped in 17 and 12 runs respectively.
From Miran Sahib Zone side, Jeevanjot, Harish Chouhan, Aqib and Himanshu took one wicket apiece.
In reply, Miran Sahib Zone failed to chase the target and bundled out at 45 runs for all out. Jeevanjot made 17 runs, while Jehanveer scored 7 runs.
From Gandhi Nagar Zone side, Shavak, Adhiwar and Aditya scalped 2 wickets each, while Nadeem and Avinash Gill took one wicket each.
UDHAMPUR: District Level Inter Zonal Competitions for under-14 and 17 boys in the disciplines of Kabaddi, Volleyball, Kho-Kho and Wrestling got underway here at Sports Stadium.
Pawan Kumar Gupta, MLA Udhampur was the chief guest on the occasion and declared the tournament open.
In under-14 Volleyball, Zone Udhampur defeated Zone Ramnagar, whereas in under-17 category, Zone Jib defeated Zone Majalta.
In under-14 Kabaddi, Zone Babey defeated Zone Udhampur, whereas in under-17 category, Zone Babey defeated Zone Dudu.
In under-14 Kho-Kho, Zone Chenani defeated Zone Udhampur, whereas in under 17 category, Zone Chenani defeated Zone Udhampur.
In under-14 Wrestling, Ajay Kumar of Zone Jib emerged winner, while Simran Magotra of Zone Udhampur secured runner-up position in below 30 kg category, whereas in below 35 kg, Chander Mohan of Zone Chenani and Amiv Javed of Zone Tikri emerged winner and runner-up respectively, in below 40 kg, Prabhat Singh of Zone Panchari and Mohammad Sameer of Zone Udhampur bagged first and second positions respectively, in below 45 kg, Anil Chand of Zone Chenani and Sahil Kumar of Zone Panchari secured winner and runner-up positions respectively and in below 45 kg, Ravinder Singh of Zone Udhampur and Sahil Singh of Zone Udhampur bagged first and second positions respectively.
In under-17 Wrestling, Gulshan Kumar of Zone Udhampur and Daleep Singh of Zone Tikri emerged winner and runner-up respectively in below 33 kg, whereas in below 40 kg, Rahul Kumar of Zone Babey and Tofan Singh of Zone Udhampur bagged first and second positions respectively, in below 45 kg, Mohinder Kumar of Zone Ghordi and Razak Ahmed of Zone Udampur bagged winner and runner-up positions respectively, in below 52 kg, Ahmeed Din of Zone Babey and Anku Singh of Zone Majalta emerged winner and runner-up respectively and in below 55 kg, Suresh Kumar of Zone Chenani and Ankit Kumar of Zone Majalta emerged winner and runner-up respectively.
REASI: Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Salal will take on Trikuta Shiksha Niketan in the final of the District Level Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament at General Zorawar Sports Stadium, here tomorrow.
Earlier in the first semis, GHSS Salal beat GHS Sirla Bhagga by 22 runs. Chasing a total of 90 runs scored by GHSS Salal, the team of GHS Sirla Bhagga was bundled out at 68 runs. Sudarshan of GHSS Salal was the top scorer with 22 runs while Abhay Partap Singh scored 24 runs for GHS Sirla Bhagga.
In the second semi-final, batting first Trikuta Shiksha Niketan scored 57 runs by losing 3 wickets in the stipulated 8 overs with Rahul Kumar scoring 23 runs. In reply GHSS Reasi failed to chase the target and scored only 48 runs for the loss of four wickets in allotted 8 overs.
DODA: Inter-Zonal District Level Competitions in the disciplines of Volleyball, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi and Badminton for under-14 and 17 girls commenced at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Bhaderwah here today.
The tournament was inaugurated by Dr Owias Ahmed Rana, SDM Bhaderwah along with Shabnam Nigar, Principal GGHSS Bhaderwah in presence of Ashok Kumar Kotwal DYSSO Doda, ZPEOs and other dignitaries and officials of the Department of Youth Services and Sports. 218 players drawn from nine zones of the district are participating in the tournament.
