Football U-14, U-17 boys’ competition gets underway

JAMMU, May 12: District Level Inter-School Competition in the disciplines of football   Under-14 and Under-17 boys got underway at Govt GGM Science College, here today.
The competition is being organized by the Department Youth Services and Sports under the patronage of Navin Agarwal, Director General Youth Services and Sports J&K, and under the chairmanship of Rishi Kumar, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports, Jammu. The event is being held under the overall supervision of Sukhdev Raj Sharma, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Jammu, who declared the competition in a well attended function earlier.
In all, 550 boys drawn from various private and Govt Institutions of District Jammu are taking part in the competition.
Earlier, in Football Under-14 boys, G.D Goenka beat KC Gurukul by 5-0 goals, wherein Sambu Koul of G.D Goenka was the star performer, scoring 3 goals, while Jodhamal Public School drubbed DPS Jammu via tie breaker (2-1), in which Amitoj and Akshit of Jodhamal scored 1 goal each, KB School trounced SOS by 2-0 goals, wherein Asif and Azar netted one goal each, Heritage School defated APS Sunjawan by 3-0, in which Basti , Honny Mohd and Ashiesh netted one goal each.
Meanwhile, according to handout issued here, District Level Inter School competitions of Swimming boys and girls Under-14 and Under-17 years, scheduled to be held today, have been postponed and the fresh dates will be communicated separately.
