Srinagar, May 4: An under-14 football tournament organized by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in close co-ordination with police and Youth Services and Sports Department was inaugurated today in Pulwama district.
A statement issued here said the tournament was inaugurated byDeputy Commissioner Pulwama, Muneer-ul-Islam in presence of Commandant of 183 Battalion CRPF Vinay Anand Prakash, Commandant of 182 Battalion CRPF N P Singh and SSP Pulwama Rayees Bhat.
N P Singh mentioned that a total of 22 teams are participating in this tournament. “Sports gear and all required support to the players is being provided by the CRPF. This event speaks for the commitment that CRPF hold for the sports. I am sure that we will witness football performances of the highest quality over the course of the tournament,” he said.
On the occasion, the local administration hoped that such type of sincere efforts will bridge the gap between the public and the security forces in the midst of the grim situation prevailing in the valley. Semi-finals and final matches will be played on May 6, the statement added.
