Football Tournament concludes

BARAMULLA, Nov 2: A week long Football tournament titled ‘DC Cup U/16 Football Tournament’ concluded at Sheher-e-Khaas Stadium, here today.
Deputy Commissioner, Dr GN Itoo was the chief guest whereas SSP Baramulla, Abdul Quyoom was the guest of honour of the concluding ceremony.
The tournament was organised by Youth Services and Sports Department in collaboration with Sheikh-ul-Alam Sports Association Baramulla in which over 16 teams participated.
The final match was played between Social Welfare Football Club Ushukra and State Football Academy Khawjabagh which was won by Social Welfare Football Club Ushukra.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC complimented the participants and said that such events enable our youth to channelize their potential in a positive direction. He said that sports activities have a profound and significant impact on the social and mental development of our youth besides urged upon them to participate with more frequency in such events.
The DC also announced a cash prize of Rs 10,000 among the winners and Rs 5000 among the runner-up teams.
The SSP said that sports helps to inculcate the sense of commitment and discipline among our youth and highlighted other positive impacts on mental development.
