Five players from Rajouri smash rivals in qualifying round of Men Singles

JAMMU, Jan 13: Five badminton players from district Rajouri namely Ashwani, Rahul Suri, Arvind Sharma, Yudhvir and Rohit smashed rivals in qualifying round of Men Singles category of 41st J&K State Badminton Championship, which commenced at Police Badminton hall, here today.
The first qualifying round of Men Singles was played between Ashwani of Rajouri and Sohail of Anantnag, in which former registered win.
In the second round, Rahul Suri of Rajouri defeated Suhaib of Baramulla, whereas in the third round, Arvind Sharma of Rajouri registered win from Messam of Baramulla.
In fourth round, Yudhvir of Rajouri emerged winner by crushing Hakeem of Baramulla, whereas in fifth round, Mohammad Abar Nazir of Pulwama lost to Rohit of Rajouri.
The matches were officiated by Satpal Sharma, NIS Coach and Vikram Jawmal, NIS Coach.
The championship is being organized to select J&K team for the Senior National Badminton Championship to be held at Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh from January 29 to February 5.
The Championship would be played in different categories–men singles and doubles, women singles and doubles, mixed doubles, junior (U-19) boys singles and doubles, junior (U-19) girls singles and doubles, U-17 boys singles and doubles, U-17 girls singles and doubles, sub junior (U-15) boys singles and doubles, sub junior (U-15) girls singles and doubles, mini (U-13) boys singles and doubles, mini (U-13) girls singles and doubles and U-10 boys and girls singles.
In the Championship, more than 300 players are participating in different categories.
The Championship is being organized by J&K Badminton Association under the supervision of Balbir Jamwal, Organizing Secretary of the Championship.
