Excise Commissioner inaugurates JKCA Premier Cricket C’ship

SAMBA, May 20: Excise Commissioner Anu Malhotra inaugurated the JKCA Premier Cricket Championship, which is being organized by JKCA for the cricketers of the district at Prem Nath Cricket Stadium Smailpur, here.
The district level JKCA Premier Cricket Championship is being organized under the patronage of Justice CK Prasad and Justice Riffat Alam Administrators of JKCA, under the chairmanship of Syed AH Bukhari CEO JKCA and under the supervision of Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal, Member JKCA. The slogan of the tournament will be “Champions Keep Playing Until They Get It Right”.
Anu Malhotra Excise Commissioner inaugurated the championship in presence of Karuna Rana Commandant CRPF, Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal Member JKCA, Rajesh Gill Former Ranji Player, Surinder Singh Bagal Coordinator of the event, Pardeep Singh, Dilawer Singh, Rajiv and Vishwanand, members of the organizing committee.
While speaking on the occasion, Anu Malhotra said that initiative of JKCA for conducting the JKCA Premier Cricket Championship at district level with the objective to provide platform to the youths of the State will nurture the sports talent of players. She further said that these type of activities are need of the hour so as to prevent the youth from drugs and other shabby activities.
She advised the cricketers and youths to involve in sports with devotion and dedication as there is a very bright future a head in sports and said that they can look at the national Indian team people from small origin have risen to the great heights provided that if they work hard with full dedication and imbibed a great discipline in real sense.
Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal while interacting with the cricketers of the Samba district also assured them to conduct more activities through JKCA.
In the opening match, Barjani Cricket Club defeated Birpur Cricket Club by 53 runs. Batting first, Barjni Cricket Club scored 191 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs. Varinder scored 70 runs, Avinash made 47 runs and Bablo chipped in 30 runs.
For Birpur Cricket Club, Masood took 3 wickets, Ankush took 2 wickets while Gurjeet took 1 wicket.
In reply, Birbur Cricket Club made 138 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs, thus lost the match by 53 runs. Deepak scored 43 runs, Masood made 24 runs and Prince chipped in 21 runs.
For Barjani Cricket Club side, Talib and Nishad took 3 wickets each, while Amit took 2 wickets and Shivam scalped 1 wicket.
Varinder of Barjani Cricket Club was declared as Man of the match.
The match was officiated by Balwinder Singh, Sunny and Ranjeet Singh Katal.
