MENDHAR, May 20: With the purpose to address the aspirations of the ex-servicemen who dedicated their life in service of the country, Romeo Force organized a veterans rally and Medical outreach campaign at Mendhar in district Poonch.
The aim of the rally was to provide an avenue for redressal of grievances of not only veterans, but also `Veer Naris’ and widows regarding issues such as pension benefits and also to provide centralized medical facilities to enable them to live their lives with dignity and pride.
General Officer Commanding, White Knight Corps Lt Gen KH Singh addressed the rally and also interacted with the veterans and `Veer Naris’.
The ex-servicemen form a large segment of the population in Poonch and Rajouri districts and nearly a 1000 of them and their dependents participated in the rally. The civil administration was very forthcoming in extending their support to resolve issues if any of the veterans.
To provide further welfare facilities a Medical outreach campaign was also organized for their benefit, which included dental specialists, lady gynecologist and Ophthalmologist. Representatives from various Defence Services / Army departments like Controller of Defence Accounts (Pension), Allahabad; Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme, Director General of Resettlement, Zila Sainik Welfare Board, JAK LI & JAK RIF Records participated in the rally and assisted the Veterans, Veer Naris & ward widows in resolving their problems related to pension benefits & Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme.
Veer Naris were also felicitated to commemorate the great sacrifice made by martyrs in the service of the nation. Wheelchairs and other mobility equipment were provided to differently abled and elderly Veterans & their dependents.
