JAMMU, July 22: City Judge Jammu M S Manhas today stayed the election of Forest Minister Lal Singh’s wife Kanta Andotra as President of Jammu and Kashmir Hockey Association.
The stay was granted in a suit filed by Romal Singh seeking declaration of election of Kanta Andotra as President, G S Bakshi as General Secretary, Sheikh Mahmood Maqbool as Senior Vice President, defendant Asima Ali and Ranbir Singh as Vice Presidents of Hockey Jammu and Kashmir as illegal.
“From the perusal of material/documents on record and the averments made in the plaint, it reveals that applicants/plaintiffs have succeeded to make out a prima facie case in their favour and balance of convenience also lies in favour of the applicants/plaintiffs”, City Judge said.
“Notice is dispensed in view of the emergency urged by the counsel for applicants/plaintiffs. In order to protect the applicant/plaintiff from irreparable loss/injury and in order to preserve the suit property, the illegal election of non-applicants/defendants as President, General Secretary, Senior Vice President and Vice Presidents is stayed till next date of hearing”, the court said.
