Educational Institutions organise various activities on eve of Yoga Day

JAMMU, June 18: Making aware about importance of yoga in daily life, various educational institutions and District Administrations today organised different competitions and activities on the eve of International Yoga Day.
With an aim to create a holistic way of keeping physically and mentally fit, Indian System of Medicine (ISM) Kishtwar and District Magistrate Kishtwar, Rajinder Singh Tara conducted a common Yoga protocol session with the theme “Yoga at Home” and “Yoga with Family” by using social media platform.
The online session was conducted by District Yoga Coordinator Dr Junaid Iqbal.
During the session, the renowned Yoga instructor from Kishtwar Amarjeet Kotwal presented various yoga postures and meditation techniques online. The event was organised under the supervision of Dr Tariq Hussain Nodal officer ISM AYUSH.
On the 4th day of “International Yoga Week”, the Department of Indian System of Medicinal (ISM) in coordination with the Information Department organized an online session at Community Hall Ramban which was attended by various people on social media sites.
The programme was presided by the District Nodal Officer ISM Ramban, Dr Rakesh Kumar by maintaining social distancing.
The Yoga sessions are organized under the guidance of Director ISM Dr Mohan Singh whereas District Yoga Coordinator cum District Master Trainer COVID-19, Dr. Masood Iqbal and Yoga Therapist Yashpal Khajuria were the resource persons.
It was informed that the online Yoga sessions being conducted on daily basis through the zoom app on ZOOM ID 9346437774 password HOPE from 8.00 am to 8.45 am.
A live session on Yoga was conducted by Yoga Therapists at residence of DC Doda which was attended by the Deputy Commissioner, Dr Sagar D Doifode along with other officials of the Department of AYUSH.
In his massage to public, DC Doda highlighted the importance of Yoga in daily routine to combat the mental stress and also helps in increasing the immunity power.
Yogi Anil Thakur, a renowned Yoga expert from district Doda demonstrated the “Yoga Asans” and also briefed about the benefits of Yoga.
Dr RK Shan ADMO Doda and Dr Ashwani Kumar District Coordinator for Yoga week celebration also participated in the event.
Department of Education, Government Degree College Ramgarh today organised an inter-collegiate online quiz competition on “International Yoga Day”.
The purpose of conducting the quiz was not only to make students aware about “Importance of Yoga Asanas” but also to make them familiar with the digital platform of teaching learning which was propagated by Commission Secretary, Talat Parvez Rohella.
About 170 participants (students & people from other walks of life) participated in the quiz.
Ruhi Jan of Central University of Punjab, Kirti and Shivani Rajput of GCW Bhagwati Nagar, Ankur Kuda of MIT Aurangabad, Sajad Rubbani, Meenakshi Choudhary, Bandana Choudhary and Pankaj Sharma of University of Jammu, Amir Ahmad Malla of Central University of Kashmir shared first position. There were four participants who shared the 2nd position whereas 13 participants shared 3rd position.
A workshop on “Yoga and Wellness” is underway at Government Degree College Kalakote in collaboration with EBSB.
The workshop started with the welcome address by the College Principal Prof Romesh Kumar Gupta, followed by morning yoga practice session led by Physical Director GDC Kalakote, Dr Dinesh Kumar Sharma.
About 1580 participants attended the morning session.
The afternoon session was chaired by Dr Yuvraj Singh, Ex Professor, Lovely Professional University Jalandhar.
He shared his views on “Nutrition for Health” and provided useful information on the impact of different components of nutrition on wellbeing.
The session was attended by Prof Rahul Gupta, Director UGC-HRDC University of Jammu, Dr Harbajan Singh and Dr Vishal joined from USA along with other faculty members from different institutions of higher learning.
NSS Unit and 2nd J&K Girls BN NCC Jammu of Government Degree College RS Pura organized an online poster making competition on the theme “Yoga as a way of life”.
The competition was organised under the supervision of Prof Bindu Kumari, NSS Programme Officer and Lt Shaveta Chowdhary, ANO Girls NCC and overall guidance of the College Principal, Dr Sunita Sudan.
About 20 NSS volunteers and 20 Girl NCC Cadets participated in the competition.
Sakshi, NSS volunteer of semester-IV bagged 1st prize whereas Sgt Riya Kumari of semester-IV clinched second prize and the 3rd prize was shared by Poornima Jojra, NSS volunteer of semester-IV and Cadet Manpreet Kour of semester-IV.
In continuation of series of activities to celebrate “Yoga Week 2020”, NSS and Physical Education Department of Govt Degree College Jindrah today conducted national level e-quiz on “Yoga and Asanas” under the guidance of Prof Raj Shree Dhar, Principal of the College.
Nearly 126 participants from various educational institutions across the country participated.
All the participants who secured more than 50 percent marks were awarded with e- certificates.
The event was organised by Vikesh Kumar, Physical Director of GDC Jindrah with active support Prof Rajiv Katoch (Assistant Professor), Prof Poonam Rainu and Dr Sunil Dutt Sharma, NSS In-charge of the College.
Government Polytechnic for Women Jammu today organized an online poster making competition on “Stay Home, Stay Safe” as a part of campaign for protective measure during COVID-19 pandemic.
35 students took part in the event wherein the students depicted their talent with artistic expressions and colours.
Er Ritu Jamwal, Principal of the College congratulated the students for their creative ideas and told that such events may help to explore the hidden talent and artistic ideas of the students, which may enhance their self esteem and confidence.
Lecturers including Vishal Nayyar, Harish Kumar and Bhavana Razdan adjudged the today’s event.
Simran Raina of Computer Engineering 4th semester secured 1st prize, Sanjana of MLT 6th semester clinched second prize whereas Liza Talashi of Computer Engineering 4th semester and Pia Koul of Textile Designing shared 3rd prize.
The event was coordinated by Bhavana Arora (NSS Programme Officer), Hameed Malik (Lecturer Computer Engineering) and Manish Kumar (HOD).
Yoga Medicos Association (YAM) in collaboration with Jammu Athlete Club organised a workshop on the eve of International Yoga Day at Green Belt Part, Jammu.
The workshop was inaugurated by Ex MLC, Vikram Randhawa. The event was attended by Corporator, Rahul Kumar.
Dr Anil Sharma (MD Swasthavritta and Yog), Dr Mahesh Sharma and Dr Sanjeev Pandey imparted training during the workshop.
