Educational Institutions celebrate National Science Day with zeal

JAMMU, Feb 28: Various Educational Institutions celebrated National Science Day with zeal and zest here today.
Central University of Jammu celebrated National Science Day at Brig Rajinder Singh Auditorium, DDE Building, Rahya Suchani.
The theme of the function was the ‘People for Science and Science for People’.
Prof AK Koul, Dean School of Life Sciences, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University was the chief guest on the occasion, Vice Chancellor, Prof Asshok Aima was present on the occasion.
Prof SK Khosa presented welcome address, while the chief guest and the VC emphasized on the role of teachers in nurturing students to develop scientific temperament.
Government Degree College (GDC) Basohli celebrated National Science Day, under the supervision of its Principal, Prof RS Jamwal with enthusiasm and fervour. Prof Jamwal along with Prof Papinder Kumar, Prof Rakesh Singh, Prof Raman Kumar, Prof Asha Sharmhal threw light on the significance of the day after Sarswati Vandana was recited by President of the College Sohan Lal.
On National Science Day, a collage making competition on the topic “Latest Development in Science and Technology Innovations Lifting Us Up” was held at GDC Akhnoor under the guidance of its Principal, Prof Kuldeep Raj Sharma who also inaugurated the event. Around twenty students of different semesters participated in the competition and displayed their innovative collages with all the enthusiasm. The Principal in his address stressed upon the importance of National Science Day and the Raman Effect. The first prize was bagged by Madhu Manhas, second by Tanvi Bhandhari and third by Ritika Dhabia.
Govt. College of Education, Canal Road celebrated National Science Day where Principal, Dr. Sangita Nagari was the chief guest and Prof Dr Ritu Magotra was the guest of honour. The programme was organised by the students of the Science Department under the supervision of Prof (Dr) Jyoti Parihar and Prof Radhika Mahajan. Chanan Deep Kour, Fatima and Kajal from B.Ed were the speakers who deliberated on the relevance of the day.
A poster making competition was also held and adjudged by Principal Dr Sangita Nagari, Dr Ritu Magotra and Dr Raj Singh Narania. A quiz competition was also held in which students from different classes participated.
The programme was attended by Dr Neelam Dhar, Prof Sunita Devi, Prof Rubeena, Prof Ramzan Ali and all the students. The programme was hosted by Kajal Lalotra of B.Ed and the Quiz was conducted by Madhu Mehra of M Ed. Team A (Kiran and Swati) was adjudged as the winner of the Quiz competition. Prof. Satish Sharma was also present on the occasion.
Jammu Sanskriti School, Kathua celebrated the National Science Day with scientific temperament and zeal. The morning assembly began with paying homage to a great Indian Scientist Chandrashekhara Venkata Raman who discovered the phenomenon known as Raman Effect.
The young scientists of JSS, Kathua exchanged their views on the theme “ Science for people and the people for science”.
The Science faculty of JSS, Kathua including Shikha Chandan and Raghini Sharma organized class-wise experiments for students to inculcate scientific temperament among them.
Principal of the Institution, Mili R. Sumbria appreciated the teaching fraternity for providing a scientific platform to the students.
Jammu Sanskriti school Jammu celebrated World Science Day with enthusiasm and fervour today.
Different activities were organized by all the wings of the School.
Principal cum Vice-Chairperson of the school, Rohini Aima spoke at length on the significance of the day.
