JAMMU, Aug 18: The Annual sports calandar of the Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, (DSPE) University of Jammu, started today with the commencement of Inter-Collegiate chess (M&W) tournament at Gymnasium Hall of the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education.
It is pertinent to mention here that earlier the annual sports calender of the University of Jammu used to start with the commencement of Inter-Collegiate Cross Country (M&W) Championship but this year it has been changed and started with the commencement of indoor game i.e. Inter-Collegiate Chess (M&W) Tournament.
Total 19 men and 20 women teams are participating in the tournament and final match shall be played on August 22, 2014 at 10.00 am.
Prof M P Singh Ishar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu was the chief-guest of the inaugural function whereas Prof Dhian S Bhau, Director, Sports and Physical Education presided over the function.
The prominent among those present included Jai Kumar Sharma, Special Secretary to Vice Chancellor, S P Sharma (National Arbiter), Sushil Kumar Sawhney, Ajit Singh(Arbiters), Raj Kumar Bakshi, P D Singh, Vikas Karlupia, Gagan Kumar, Ravish Vaid, Jai Bharat, students, players and other staff of the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
