JAMMU, Aug 11: Department of Information and Public Relations today organized a singing competition in semi classical and light vocal genre at the Directorate of Information and Public Relations, here.
The competition saw participation from enthusiastic singers across three age categories of A category (10-15), B category (15-25) and category C (25 and above years of age) respectively.
Joint Director Information, Manisha Sarin said, “Department will continue to hold such events to provide platform to the immensely talented youth of the State”.
She said that these steps go a long way in imparting self confidence in the young artists and encourage them to proceed for a career in creative professions.
In A category, Drishti Bhagat and Harpriya Gupta bagged first and second positions respectively. Sanvi Anand and Ananya Sharma shared the third position. Encouragement prize has been awarded to Saisha.
In B category, Sushmita Bannerjee, Shubham Bannerjee and Simranjeet Singh were adjudged first, second and third respectively. Encouragement prize has been awarded to Paras Jalotra and Guneet Singh.
In C category, Azad Kumar and Surinder Kumar shared the first position. Ashok Kumar bagged second position. Neena Kour and Sooraj Sharma shared third position. Encouragement prize has been awarded to Rohit Manhas.
The event was judged by a panel of experts including Assistant Cultural Officer Jeevan Sharma, Music composer Ravi Sharma and renowned singer Anita Sharma.
Music team from cultural unit of Department of Information comprising of Vijay Anand, Yash Kumar, Bunty Kumar and Kamal Kumar participated in the event.
