JAMMU, July 30: Notwithstanding the tall claims made by the rival group of JKCA to upstage the present setup and bring revolutionary changes for the betterment of cricket in Jammu and Kashmir, the first demand of this faction of JKCA, post financial scam was to get the dream project of establishment of International Stand Cricket Stadium in Jammu shelved. In past six months after the multi-crore scam was unearthed, the so called promoters of cricket have done nothing but addressed countless press briefings.
This statement was expressed by Hardev Singh, joint secretary, Jammu wing of JKCA while addressing media persons at Press Club, here today.
He said the scam has proved to be a stumbling-block for development of International Standard Cricket Stadium in Jammu, for which the cricketing fraternity had been waiting in the wings and which would have been crowning glory in JKCA, adding that the myopic characters, who could not see beyond their personal interest were hell-bent to sabotage this dream project.
The members also flayed the in-house probe committee for floating alleged biased report with regard to financial embezzlement in JKCA. They said the Chairman JKCA is being made scapegoat by those who have lust for power and pelf.
The members alleged that JKCA treasurer has misled the Court as also the president by making himself the only signatory in JKCA financial matters, when the constitution allows 2 signitories, out of the 3 office bearers of general secretary, chairman and the treasurer. They said that such a functioning would lead to another scam in JKCA.
They said as per the directions of the JKCA president they have organized U-14, U-16 and U-19 tournaments, besides a mega event of Prof Pran Nath Malhotra Memorial Cricket Tournament, adding that they were committed to promote cricket in the State and would always love to be part of the committee that takes steps with regard to promotion of cricket in Jammu and Kashmir.
The members also said that they would request the JKCA president to investigate another scam in JKCA wherein they alleged that fake certificates have been issued to the wards of the officers of JKCA to enable them to seek admission in the professional colleges.
