JAMMU, Feb 9: Dr Vikas Gupta, son of Kulbushan Gupta and Aruna Gupta, resident of Jawahar Nagar, Udhampur got Best Innovator Award and Best Paper Award in National Conference on “Women Empowerment through Agro-Entrepreneurship for Livelihood Security” held at SKUAST-Jammu for designing “Low Cost Mushroom Structure For Production Of Mushroom In High Himalaya (Leh, Ladakh)”.
The award was presented by Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-J, Prof PK Sharma which contains a certificate of excellence along with memento.
Dr Vikas Gupta is working as Scientist (Senior Scale) in Krishi Vigyan Kendra-Leh (Ladakh). He has been honoured with Best Innovator award by Society for Integrated Development of Agriculture, Veterinary and Ecological Sciences (SIDAVES) in above said national conference for his outstanding contribution and recognition in the field of Research and Extension regarding development and promotion of Mushroom cultivation in Ladakh Region.
He has done several innovations in cold desert Leh and introduced several new technologies in the region to promote mushroom cultivation for socio-economic upliftment of the tribal farming community of Ladakh Region. He established first spawn cum pathology lab and mushroom demonstration unit at Leh. He has more than 100 publications to his credit. He is also reviewer of two national and two international journals. The paper presented by him entitled “Tribal Women Empowerment Through Mushroom Cultivation For Livelihood Security In High Himalaya” got best paper award in the conference.
