JAMMU, Dec 27: Dr Basheshar Dutt Memorial Cricket tournament was inaugurated by Congress leader Bharat Priye at Higher Secondary School Pargwal in Chhamb Assembly constituency, here today.
The inaugural match of the tournament was played between Pargwal-A and Pargwal-B.
Batting first, Pargwal-A’ team scored 59 runs in the stipulated 12 overs, while Pargwal-B chased the target in 8 overs. Ajay Kumar was adjudged as man of the match for Pargwal B for his outstanding performance.
While addressing the gathering during the inaugural ceremony of the tournament, the Congress leader said that he had organized this competition in the name of his late father, Dr Basheshar Dutt Sharma, wherein more than 15 teams are participating in it with motive is to enhance the sports talent of the youth.
Senior Congress leaders including Ramesh Verma, Satpal Sharma, Chunni Lal Sharma, Sham Chaudhary, Banarasi Lal, Yashpal Singh, Vivek Singh, Police Post In-charge Pargwal, Girdhari Lal and many others were present during the inaugural ceremony.
