KATHUA, Dec 20: Delhi Public School (DPS), Rajbagh, Kathua celebrated its much awaited Annual Day today in the School premises with great zeal and enthusiasm.
The theme of the function was ‘Sapling Set to Blossom’- A Dance – Drama wherein different stages of a child’ s growth and development were showcased.
The occasion was graced by Padmashree, Prof Amitabh Mattoo, Advisor to the Chief Minister J&K as the chief guest, while Kanta Andotra, Ex MLA was the guest of honour.
Minister for Health & Medical Education & ARI Trainings, Ch Lal Singh, Ramesh Kumar, DC Kathua, Neeva Jain, SSP Kathua and Pradeep Dutta, Bureau Chief Times Now were the special guests on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Mattoo laid emphasis on learning by doing and said that the institution has already blossomed and appreciated the School Management, staff and students for their scintillating performances and said that setting up of such a prestigious institution in a rural place not only advances economic progress but also brings in complete transformation in children’s way of life.
Earlier, Health Minister Choudhary Lal Singh in his speech appreciated the performance of children and hoped that they will work hard to excel in academics as well as extracurricular activities.
The programme commenced with formal welcome address by the Principal, Nirmal Mahna. The Chairman of the School, Ram Avtar Aggarwal, Kush Aggarwal, Principal alongwith other members of the committee welcomed the dignitaries with floral presentation.
Chief guest alongwith other dignitaries inaugurated the function by lighting the Sacred Lamp. The Principal, Nirmal Mahna presented the annual report highlighting the achievements of academic session 2015-16.
The chief guest and the guest of honour gave away the academic prizes, scholar badges and cash prizes to the position holders.
Addressing the gathering, the Principal of the institution complimented the staff and the students on this momentous occasion and expressed confidence that the school will achieve greater glories in the future.
Vote of thanks was proposed by the Chairman, Ram Avtar Aggarwal.
The programme culminated with the reverberating School Song and Singing of the National Anthem.
