JAMMU, Sept 30: DPS Jammu organized a special assembly to pay rich tributes to Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri, who preached peace, truthfulness and non-violence, and finally achieved India’s independence.
Floral tributes were paid to both the leaders – the brave sons of India, by the staff and the students followed by Gandhiji’s favourite bhajans – Vaishnav Jan to tene Kahiya’ and ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’.
On this auspicious occasion, Headboy, Rattandeep Sharma, Headgirl, Shreya Sharma and Kartik Malhotra of class IV delivered wonderful speeches to enlighten the students.
An activity – ‘Shram Dan’ was also organized on this occasion in which students of class I – V and IX – XII actively participated.
While highlighting the importance of Shram Dan, Additional Director and Principal, Dr D Joseph, DPS Jammu, appreciated the efforts of the students and stressed on three main aims of Gandhiji – Truth, Beauty and Goodness.
The assembly came to an end after National anthem.
