JAMMU, Apr 17: Under the leadership of Ritu Singh, Delhi Public School Jammu, Nagbani and Katra organised a Special Assembly on the “Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Pledge Campaign,” aligning with the flagship anti-drug initiative of the Union Territory.
The programme was attended by Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Ramesh Kumar as the chief guest. The event began with a ceremonial welcome by the school band and traditional tilak, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp.
The chief guest administered the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Pledge” to students and staff and sensitised the gathering on the harmful effects of substance abuse. He stressed that addiction impacts health, education, families and society, urging students to adopt discipline, sports, creative pursuits and guidance from mentors to stay away from drugs.
A major highlight of the programme was the participation of nearly 5,000 students, parents and staff members, who collectively signed a pledge supporting the anti-drug campaign. A “Wall of Strength” was also unveiled, symbolising unity against substance abuse.
The chief guest inaugurated a painting exhibition on “Say No to Drugs,” showcasing student creativity and awareness. A Badge of Responsibility ceremony appointed eight student Brand Ambassadors, including Mahira Tandon, Dhriti Langeh, Abhilasha Gupta, Myra Gupta, Jenna Nuryn, Nadia, Sparsh Bakshi and Kashvi Arora, who pledged to promote awareness and responsible choices.
The programme began with a prayer by Aleena Arora (Class VII), followed by a Hindi poem recitation by Abhilasha Gupta (Class VIII), and a choir presentation spreading awareness and positivity.
Principal Ruchi Chabra delivered the vote of thanks. The event concluded with Vande Mataram and the National Anthem, in the presence of senior officials including Vice Principal Meenu Gupta, Headmaster Ravi Kotroo, Dy Headmaster & Chief Coordinator Umesh Sharma, Deputy Headmistress Rimpi Sharma, Senior Manager Operations Karandeep Singh, Chief Accounts Officer Ramesh Gupta, Transport Administrator M.L. Mehra, Coordinators Anu Bali, Preeti Abrol, Prerna, Anuradha Malhotra, Arti Sharma, Sheetal Abrol and management representatives MK Ajatshatru Singh and S.S. Sodhi.
