DPS celebrates Annual Day

UDHAMPUR, Mar 24: Reiterating resolve to provide quality education, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand said universalizing education in the State is priority of Government.
Tara Chand was addressing a gathering at the Annual Day function of DPS Udhampur, here today.
MLA BS Mankotia, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range Garib Dass, DC Yasha Mudgal, Chairman, DPS Management Committee JC Gupta, Deepti Uppal, Principal Anju Pandey, officers from Education, Youth Services and Sports Department, prominent citizens, parents, staff and school children attended the event.
He said that private institutions are doing a fine job and appealed to them to come forward in sharing social responsibility by adopting talented students from poor and underprivileged families so as to give such students a chance to nurture their talent.
Besides promoting other languages of the region due stress should be given to encourage Urdu, adding that the official language of the state is Urdu so due promotion needs to be given to it at the school level, he added.
He said model Government schools having facilities at par with private institutes would be opened in Jammu and Kashmir regions so as to further give fillip to modern quality education.
While speaking on the occasion, BS Mankotia appreciated the school management for its professional approach towards education and for efforts to deliver quality education to the students of the area.
On the occasion, the students presented sports and cultural activities, which were highly appreciated by the audience with thundering applauses.
Later, prizes were distributed among those who had excelled in curricular and co-curricular activities.
