JAMMU, Aug 22: Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, started its Inter-Collegiate Competitions for the session 2016-17 by organizing the event of Inter-Collegiate Cross Country (Men) Championship at University Campus.
Lhundup Dorojay of Government MAM College clinched gold medal by completing the race in 45.48 minutes while Mohd Shafiq of GDC Rajouri and Zahoor Elahi of GDC Poonch stood 2nd and 3rd by completing the race in 46.29 and 49.02 minutes, respectively.
Earlier, chief guest, Prof Keshav Sharma, Registrar, JU, Jammu, flagged off the race i.e, Cross Country in the presence of coaches and other dignitaries.
In first match of Inter Collegiate Kho-Kho (Men), SPMR College of Commerce beat GGM Science College by 10 points. In Inter-Collegiate Chess (Men), GDC Kathua defeated GDC Rajouri by 3-1. Earlier, Sanjeev of GDC Kathua beat Umar javed, Akhil of GDC Kathua defeated Milkha Singh, Kapil of GDC Kathua thrashed Vimal Thomson and Ashish of GDC Kathua lost to Sahil Kumar of GDC Rajouri.
