JAMMU, Oct 11: Keeping up with the tradition of promoting the ‘Girl Child & Girl Education’ following the noble initiative of PM Modi named as ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padao’, the students of Doon International School Jammu celebrated the ‘International Day of Girl Child’ by an extravagant display of an ‘Awareness Programme’ at Green Belt Park Channi Himmat to sensitize the general public about the importance of addressing the needs and challenges of a girl child.
The students presented an array of performances to promote ‘Girl Empowerment’ and also to spread the idea that investing in girls and their education is a moral imperative and a matter of basic justice and equality.
Sohail Kazmi, senior journalist was the chief guest on the occasion, who appreciated this noble initiative of DIS Jammu & applauded the heart touching and scintillating performances of the little ‘Dabs’ which depicted not only their phenomenal talent but also their awareness about this very important issue of Indian society.
The programme commenced with an endearing dance performance by the middle wing students followed by a group song depicting the significance of girl child. The highlight of the programme was the ‘Nukkad Natak’ which portrayed the dreams, aspirations and ambitions of a girl child.
The Chairman GN Tantray and Principal Dr Vikesh Kaur appreciated the honest endeavour of the students and the staff for propagating and sensitizing the society about the social need of equal opportunities, justice and emancipation in concern with the noble initiative of ‘Girl empowerment’ and ‘Girl education’.
The entire event was prepared and successfully executed by the CCA team of the school under the guidance of the Activity Coordinator Shivali Singh Pathania.
