Divisional Level Inter-District Competition gets underway

JAMMU, Sept 28: Organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports as part of annual calendar of actitivities, the Divisional Level Inter-District Competition in the disciplines of Table Tennis, Taekwando and Wrestling for boys and girls got underway at MA Stadium, here today.
Over 200 boys and girls drawn from various districts of Jammu division are taking part inn the competion, which was declared open by Ashok Kumar, Deputy Director Youth services and Sports, Jammu in an impressive function.
Speaking on the occasion, Ashok Kumar said that the 4 D’s viz discipline, devotion, dedication and determination are the mantra of success in every field not to talk of the field of sports only. He stressed upon the participants to work hard for excelling in the field of sports and advised them to always play with sporting spirit.
Prominent among others present on the opening ceremony were Sunita Goel, Pushpa Sharma, Manorma Sharma, Sarita Padha,Veer ji Bhat, Jaswant Singh,  BK Tickoo and Sadiq Hussain Malik.
Meanwhile, in Under-19 boys Table Tennis, District Poonch trounced District Udhampur by 02-01, with Gagandeep of Poonch outplaying Rajat Singh of Udhampur in two stright sets 11-5, 11-9, Gurjot Singh of Poonch beating Rajat Khajuria in two straight sets by 11-7, 11-7 andManjot Singh of poonch lost to Rajat Jandyal by 11-5, 6-11,  6-11.
In Table Tennis Under-19 girls, District Poonch beat District Kishtwar by 3-2, with Mehreen of Poonch trouncing Diksha of Kishtwar in two straight sets by 11-6,  11-7,, Sonjana of District Poonch lost to Seema of Kishtwar District by 9-11, 11-9, 8-11 sets, Saloni of District Poonch lost to Sapne of District Kishtwar 8-11, 18-20, 8-11 sets, Mehreen of District Poonch beat Seema of Kishtwar in two straight sets 11-2, 11-1 sets and Sonjana of Poonch prevailed upon Diksha of Kishtwar in two straight sets by 11-5,  1-2 sets.
The taekwondo and wrestling bouts were also held today.
