UDHAMPUR, Nov 12: Three day District Badminton Championship concluded at Indoor Hall Subash Stadium, here today.
SSP Vinod Gupta was the chief guest of the valedictory function, while Anwaar-Ul-Haq, Addl. SP and Kameshwar Puri, SP PHQ were the guests of honour.
In under-17 boys, Sohard emerged winner, while Akul stood runner-up, whereas in under-19, Vansh Dogra (winner) and Akshay (runner-up) and in under-17 girls, Tejasvi stood winner and Astha remained runner-up.
The other guests who were present during the event include Col. Ajay Sharma, Ajay Sharma DSP (Civil Defence), Naveen Sharma, Manager Sports Council, Anil Pabha Manager J&K Bank, Raman-SI and others. The championship was organised by District Badminton Association under the presidentship of Suresh Khajuria and other office bearers.
Meanwhile, a District level Badminton tournament also got underway at Indoor Sports Stadium Reasi, wherein Manik beat Lakshdeep by 2-0 (22-20, 21-16) to reach final in singles event, whereas Raghav also reached finals by defeating Narinder.
In under-19 doubles, Narinder and Lakshdeep beat Tanish & Harsh to reach finals by 2-0 (26-24, 21 -12), in open doubles, pair of Abhinav & Ankush beat Sahil & saksham by 2-0 (21-13, 21-17) and Sunandhan & Manik trounced Anil & Amit by 2-0 (21-08, 21-13), besides Shivam & Sunit got better of Raghav & Narinder by 2-0 (21-07, 21-11), while Davinder & Gourav beat Ashok & Rajesh by 2-0 (21-14, 21-09).
In open singles, Sahil beat Gourav and Davinder defeated Manik.
