UDHAMPUR, Dec 18: Three days long District Udhampur Open Table Tennis Championship, organised by District Table Tennis Association Udhampur in collaboration with J&K Sports Council under the aegis of J&K Table Tennis Association, concluded at Indoor Sports Hall of Subash Stadium, here today.
Former MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia was the chief guest, whereas District Sports Officer Udhampur, Swaran Singh was the guest of honour.
Earlier, Tarun general secretary said that the District Table Tennis Association is working continuously to uplift the talent of youngsters and only motive behind to organise this tournament is to channelize the energy of youngsters into positive directions. Around 60 participants from every nook and corner of the district participated.
The chief guest conveyed his best wishes to all the players and the members of Association. He announced new Table Tennis championship from his side.
In sub-junior boys category, Sourav Sharma beat Madhav Sharma by 3-2 sets, whereas in junior boys Madhav Sharma trounced Mahi Kailu by 3-2 sets and Gungun defeated Palak Khajuria by 3-1 sets in junior girls category.
In senior boys category, Harshit Ramotra defeated Sudansh Verma by 3-1sets while in senior girls, Siya Sharma trounced Pratibha by 3-2 sets.
Vinod Kumar Baru president, Tarun general secretary, Prikshit Khajuria treasurer, Ankit Sharma joint secretary, Akash Sharma organising secretary, Sunny Sharma vice-president, Akhil Bandral executive member, Achhat Magotra executive member, KG Sharma, Kanav Magotra of Sanjeev Sharma of the District Table Tennis Association were also present during the event.
The matches were officiated by Maninder Singh, Subhi Sharma, Buneet Singh, Ajay Sharma, Rakesh, Manik, Deepak, and Sahil Magotra. Later, prizes were distributed among winners and runner-ups.
