REASI, Sept 24: The winners and runners-up teams from all the four Blocks namely Mahore, Arnas, Pouni and Reasi in five sports disciplines of Athletics, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball and Wrestling in which they had topped in their respective Block Level Rural Sports Competitions in the earlier weeks, vied for the district honours in 2-day District Rural Sports Competitions-2015 under Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan at General Zorawar Sports Stadium, here today.
These competitions were conducted for the under-16 years age category.
Block Mahore emerged Champion in Kabaddi with Block Reasi earning the title in Kho-Kho event. In Volleyball section Block Arnas got the top slot in the district while in Athletics Block Pouni dominated the proceedings.
Vinod Kumar Soni, Chief Education Officer Reasi who was the chief guest on the inauguration pragmatically pointed towards the significance of RGKA for the promotion of sports in the remote areas in the State where there is lack of sports activities, opportunities and infrastructure.
OP Sharma, Govind Singh and ML Sharma ZPEOs Reasi, Pouni and Chassana were present on the occasion as the part of the organizing team.
The opening ceremony was very well attended by a handsome gathering of senior and budding sportspersons, sports lovers and the general public.
The officiating team comprised of Pardeep Nag, Ashok Kumar, Romesh Chander, Tour Kumar, Ashoka Kumari, Saroj Bala, Pushkar Raj, Kuldeep Raj, Chatter Singh, Ajay Kumar Billa, Ajay Kumar, Sukhwinder Singh and Manzoor Hussain.
These competitions were conducted under the directions of Direction General Youth Services & Sports J&K, under the chairmanship of Joint Director Jammu and under the supervision of Dr SS Chib, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Reasi.
Earlier, in Kho-Kho, Panthal bagged first place, Aghar Jitto won second spot and Sirah Kotla claimed third place, while in Kabaddi, Aghar Jitto, Gran Banotrian and Mari A bagged first three spots respectively.
In Volleyball, Mari A, Panthal and Gran Banotrian won first, second and third places respectively.
In Wrestling, the gold medals in 42, 46 and 54 categories went to Madan Singh (Talwara), Kuldeep Singh (Talwara) and Surjeet Singh (Talwara), while the silver medals in these categories went to Puran Singh (Sujandhar), Javed Iqbal (Panthal) and Sahil Pandey (Gran Banotrian).
In Athletics: 100 mtrs: 1st-Ajeet Singh Seela, 2nd-Abhishek Singh Gran Banotrian and 3rd-Karan Kumar Panthal; 400 mtrs: 1st-Mohd Altaf Mari A; 2nd-Rakesh Singh Gran Banotrian and 3rd-Anil Singh Mari B; 800 mtrs: 1st-Abhishek Singh Gran Banotria, 2nd-Manzoor Ahmed Mari B and 3rd-Papu Singh Talwara A; 1500 mtrs: 1st-Qyoom Ali Talwara B, 2nd-ohd Asif Gran Banotrian and 3rd-Arif Panthal; 3000 mtrs: 1st -Imtiaz Ahmed Talwara B, 2nd-Kundrodian and 3rd-Sourav Sharma Gran Banotrian; Shot Put: 1st-Deepak Singh Sirah Kotla, Rakesh Singh Gran Banotrian-2nd, Ajay Kumar Gran, 3rd and Arjun Kumar Seela, 3rd; Discus: 1st-Ganesh Singh AgharJitto, 2nd-Ajay Kumar Gran and 3rd-Vishesh Sharma Kuddrodian; Long Jump: 1st-Sahil Kumar Talwara B, 2nd-RazaqAli Panthal and 3rd-Sahil Kumar Mari and High Jump: 1st-Mohit Verma Mari B, 2nd-Karan Kumar Panthal and 3rd-Rakesh Kumar Gran Banotrian.
