District Level Inter School Competitions get underway

JAMMU, Aug 18: District level Level Inter-School Competitions of Jammu District in the disciplines of Badminton, Football, Hupkwondo, Speedball, Rifile Shooting, Handball, Judo and Gymnastics for boys got underway at different venues, here today.
The venues included University of Jammu, GGM Science College, Greenfield ground, DPS Jammu, Dogra Ground and MA Stadium Jammu.
In all, 480 boys drawn from the Govt and Private institutions of district Jammu are taking part in the Competitions.
The competitions are being organized under the patronage of Sheikh Fayaz Ahmed, Director Youth Services & Sports, and under the chairmanship of Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services & Sports, Jammu, while Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu is the organizing secretary of the Competitions.
Earlier, the competitions were declared open by Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu in a simple and well attended function.
The main objective of the Competitions is to select the teams of Jammu district for their further participation in Divisional Level Competitions.
In Gymnastics Under- 14 boys, Manpreet of Banyan International clinched 1st place, while Gagandeep of KC Public School got 2nd place and  Atyash Gupta of Jammu Public School claimed 3rd position.
In Gymnastics Under-17 boys, Dhairya of Banyan International School won gold, while in Gymnastics Under-19 boys, Gourav Chitri of Banyan International claimed gold, Dhruv of SRML clinched silver and Manav of DPS got bronze.
The matches were officiated by Omeshwar Sangal, Kamal Singh, Seema Mehra, Mayank Jain and Honey Mehra.
In Badminton Under-19 boys singles 1st quarterfinals, APS Kalu Chak beat Co-operative Public School by 2-0 sets. Mohit beat Sandeep (21-10, 21-12), while in doubles, Aman and Satvik beat Sandeep and Sanam.
In 2nd quarterfinal, APS Jammu Cantt defeated DPS by 2-1 sets. Savinay Mangi drubbed Shivansh (21-10, 21-10), while in doubles, Aryan and Aryavee outplayed Savin and Vikalb.
In reverse singles, Aryan Nagpal beat Sanchit Arora.
In 3rd quarterfinal singles, Banyan International defeated DPS Domana. Yashdeep Singh beat Rahul by (2-10), while in doubles, Yashdeep and Abnandan trounced Rahul and Karan (21-18, 21-15).
The matches were officiated by Harcharan Singh, Vikram Jamwal, Sanjay Khajuria, Ravinder and Harpreet Bhalla.
